Take to the skies at Sim-Fly Combat
We actually launched the new Sim-Fly Combat website on Friday 9th June to make sure that we met the deadline for the open day launch of the new business on Sunday 11th June. However due to time constraints we still had some work to do on it. We launched the site so that the framework was in and enough for social media promotion to go out and people to get the general idea. Today we have now finished the site brining in the increased back end functionality that now allows people to join the site as a FREE member and put up a profile, see other players profiles, comment on the forum and also see the upcoming tournaments and get special kudos points on the ‘King of the Skies’ monthly chart.
We recently redesigned and rebuilt the Sim-Fly.com website and successfully launched that which is going strongly with orders coming in regularly. Now with the new business just started as a sister company, you can fly solo or with 2, 3 or 4 friends at a time in a purpose built cockpit with authentic controls to add that extra bit of realism.
Unlike the sim-fly.com website where there was an already existing site for us to lift content out of, sim-flycombat.com was a brand new concept where we had to come up with both the design and feel of the site as well as the structure. We looked at the ethos behind the business and felt that it would greatly benefit having the added functionality of FREE membership, forum, ‘King of the Skies’ and much more to increase the usability of the site and also give much more to make socially aware. Tyler worked very hard on this project to get everything exactly right, and we are very proud of the result.
Being a brand new business, we were also asked to create the brand for sim-flycombat.com which of course we did. Meg created the concepts and with a few tweaks the final solution couldn’t be decided upon for the colour of the word ‘COMBAT’. So, we went and did some research and got views from the public where the majority went for the red. The red signifying the gaming aspect behind the business. Meg did a great job of the brand with a very limited brief originally.
Once the brand was in place we then designed the whole look and feel of the site around the brand and the world war II theme that John Hoyte (owner of sim-fly.com) wanted and expanded on the gaming aspect of the business.
Sim-Fly Combat is situated at Old Buckenham airfield, Norfolk in the same building as sim-fly.com.
