Sometimes the killer wins…
A couple of years ago we designed and developed a fully responsive website for Peter Francis for his business Meditation Personal Trainers. A couple of months ago Peter recommended us to his son Lee Francis as he was looking for a web design company to design and develop for him a website to back up the promotion of his recently published novel ‘Playing With Death‘ which he co-wrote with Simon Scarrow.
As Lee doesn’t live in Norfolk we went through the whole brief via email. Lee’s main aim of the site is that he wanted it to reflect the theme of the ‘Playing With Death‘ novel based around FBI Special Agent Rose Blake who is haunted by a failed undercover mission where she can’t shake the memory of her close encounter with a ruthless killer. Then comes the call to investigate a suspected arson attack that’s left a software contractor dead inside a locked room. Rose fears the worst: that a cold-blooded, sophisticated killer has carried out the perfect murder. A killer with terrifying power and the intelligence to stay one step ahead at every stage. She knows only one thing about him: that he will kill again. As the death toll rises, Rose will have to scour the cutting edge world of technology to stop him. From the brief we created a dark theme for the home page to include a computer screen and all the major elements that Rose Blake uses.
We also used the opportunity to go one step further and introduced a parralax design for the home page with a chair in front of the screen so that when you scroll up and down the page it looks as if the design is in 3D.
We scaled back the look of the rest of the content specifically to highlight the front page of the site. Additional functionality added to the site is a cool ‘quiz’ based around knowledge of the book, all created to encourage the viewer to read the book, and of course meaning they need to buy it!
We had an initial deadline to hit on this project of the 28th October 2017 as Lee is speaking at this years Comic Con event in London and so wanted to showcase his new site and promote the novel. We hit the deadline with a day to spare.
This has been a great project for us to work on, and allowed us to show off our creative and coding skills. Why not take a look for yourself at the finished result www.leefrancisauthor.com and although the site is fully responsive it is best experienced on a desktop screen.
