Skincare advisory centres like Halcyon Days are not for pampering, but addressing a necessity… your skincare!
After we created their original HTML website many years ago, Halcyon Days recently got back in touch Visualise. The wanted us to update their website, as they felt the old design was beginning to look dated. Our brief was to present the clinic as fresh and modern with the help of a sleek, sophisticated new website. And the Visualise team were more than up to it! With their price lists and treatments close at hand, we got down to work…
Halcyon Days wanted to keep the green and gold colour scheme from the original site, as this cemented the clinic’s brand.
Therefore, we made these bold, rich colours the centre of our design. We incorporated velvet greens, golds and charcoal blacks throughout the website, whether it was in the header and footer, or the text boxes with provide information about the clinic. These colours were reminiscent of the art-deco movement, which we tried to reflect in the design. This is evident in the geometric print we used as the main background, and our choice of elegant serif font.
It was important that we promote the wide range of treatments Halcyon Days offer. Therefore, included “Our Top Picks” at the foot of each page, promoting the clinic’s most recommended treatments. These pictures include links that take the customer directly to the specific treatment page to find out more information, including the prices. What’s more, these “Top Picks” can be updated monthly to spotlight a whole selection of treatments, including those which are on offer that month.
In order to make the website appear more sleek and modern, we incorporated animations throughout the design.
For example, when you view the “about us” page, you will see information about the various members of staff. Hover over these text boxes, and the box will turn over to reveal a picture of that team member. Also, many of the treatment pages include “before and after” images. Therefore, when you hover over these pictures, you can see the transformation that comes from utilising the treatment.
Perhaps our favourite animation comes from the price list page. It would be quite annoying having to scroll through page trying to find the specific treatment you want, especially if you are in a rush. So, to prevent frustrated customers, we developed a shortcut where you can click on the name of the treatment you desire, and the page will automatically scroll to the section you need. What’s more, you can click “return to top” when you’re done to save you having to manually scroll and search again.
